Helsinki 2 of 5

I visited an area called Senate Square that contained a number of buildings for arts, culture, politics and education as well as the landmark Helsinki Cathedral that was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in the early 19^th Century.

Not far from the square is the impressive Uspenski Cathedral, the largest Orthodox church in Western Europe.  This was built as a tribute to Czar Nicholas 1 during the Russian occupation of Finland.
